چکیده

PurposeTo assess the diagnostic accuracy of MRI in detecting recurrent aggressive fibromatosis (AF) during long-term follow-up at two multidisciplinary sarcoma centers.MethodsSeventy-nine patients from centers were included this IRB-approved study and examined postoperatively using 1.5-T MRI. scans reviewed for true-positive/-negative false-positive/-negative results. Available pathological reports follow-ups set as reference.ResultsThe median age was 38.1 ± 15.3 years. Of 27.9 % showed AF lesions. The most common localizations axilla/shoulder (n = 15) thigh 11). From 498 postoperative follow-ups, 24 true-positive, 16 false-positive, 6 false-negative, 452 true-negative identified. overall sensitivity specificity 80 97 %, respectively. There no significant difference centers. All false-negative results found small False-positive mostly mimicked streaky 10) ovoid/nodular 5) configuration significantly often fascicular (50 %; p 0.001?0.005).ConclusionMRI shows a high value recurrences. Nevertheless, radiologists should pay close attention when lesions are small, they may remain undetected. Although is fascicular, recurrences also appear different shapes.

BACKGROUND Imatinib evaluated as a new treatment option in patients with recurrent or established progressive aggressive fibromatosis/desmoid tumor (AF/DT). PATIENTS AND METHODS Forty patients with unresectable and progressive symptomatic AF/DT were treated with imatinib (400 mg/day for 1 year) in a Simon's optimal two-stage phase II study (P(0) = 10%, P(1) = 30%, α = 5%, β = 10%). The primar...
